This article addresses the Indexing Options, which control the frequency of your index cycles, where you store your index, as well as deleting your index.  Navigate to X1's Indexing Options by selecting Indexing from the Options menu. The Indexing options are organized into three categories: Index Files, Indexing Options, and Indexing Priority.

Let’s take a look at each of the indexing controls below:

INDEX FILES

Index Location allows you to change where you store your Professional Client index file.

Clear Index Files will wipe your index of all contents.

INDEXING OPTIONS

Allow indexing when minimized allows X1 to continue indexing even if X1 is not open on your desktop

Allow indexing when on battery power allows X1 to continue indexing even when you are on battery power. If you select this option, you should be wary of your overall power, as well as how soon it will be before you can plug into a power source.

Ignore accents in characters displays characters in plain text.

Insert word breaks around Asian language characters

Maximum amount of text extracted per item sets limits on indexed data.

INDEXING PRIORITY

Never delay indexing if PC is in use allows X1 to index whether or not you are using your machine. This is the most aggressive approach because regardless of how many resources you are using, if X1 is scheduled to index it will take resources and update your index. This approach is suggested for people that have frequently changing indexes.

Delay indexing up to 'X' minutes if PC is in use causes X1 to pause indexing if you are using your machine. However, X1 will only wait for the selected time. So, if you select 30 minutes, X1 will check to index and stop if you are using your machine. However, after 30 minutes, X1 will check back, and even if you are using your machine, it will proceed to index.

Always delay indexing if PC is in use is the least aggressive approach, never allowing X1 to index if you are using your machine.

Please Note: Choose "Apply" to enable changes, and OK to close the window.
