The easiest way to search your emails, documents, and files with the X1 Professional Client is to simply start typing in the search box, and review the results appearing in the Results List. The X1 Professional Client also provides the option to use Boolean operators to narrow your results.  The following table shows the Basic Search Sytnax supported by X1 Professional Client.

simple search market A word starting with market (includes results such as marketing, marketable, markets)
letters followed by = market= The exact word market in any column
quotation marks "the market" Includes the exact phrase "the market"
NOT operator NOT research Same as -research NOT must be all caps. The search results will not include documents any word that starts with research (such as researcher, researched)
minus sign -research Same as NOT research
NOT operator followed by = NOT research= The search results will not include documents that contain the exact word   "research"  
AND operator a AND b The results will include documents which contain at least one word starting with the letter a and at least one word starting with the letter b. The AND operator must be all caps.  In other words, both values must be present to be in the results set.
multiple search terms a b Same as a AND b
  a & b Same as a AND b
  a OR b The results will include documents which contain at least one word starting with the letter a OR, at least one word starting with the letter b. The OR operator must be all caps.  In other words, only one of values needs to be present to be part of the results set.
  a | b Same as a OR b
parentheses (a or b)  AND c Search terms contained within parentheses are processed first, followed by NOT, AND then OR  
    example: "market research" AND (report OR proposal) NOT draft=
    The search will find all documents containing words beginning with ether report or proposal, it will then filter out any documents that contain the exact word "draft" and the last step will be to show the results that also contain phrase "market research".
