Enhanced Gmail Open Support for Multiple Signed-In Accounts

X1 Search includes enhanced Gmail Open support for environments where multiple Gmail accounts are signed into the same web browser.

This feature allows X1 Search to correctly determine which Gmail account should be used when opening emails directly from Search.

Where to Find the Setting

The option is available in the Gmail Data Source Configuration window when creating or editing a Gmail data source.

The setting is named:

“Which Gmail account should be used to open emails”

How the Setting Works

The option is controlled by assigning a number value to the Gmail data source:

  • 0 = Default behavior (no additional Gmail account mapping)
  • 1 = Primary/active signed-in Gmail account
  • 2 = Second signed-in Gmail account
  • 3 = Third signed-in Gmail account

The selected number should match the order of the Gmail accounts currently signed into the user’s web browser. This order can be observers by opening you desired browser and noting the order in which the accounts are logged in. See the following screenshot:

Example

If the following Gmail accounts are signed into Chrome:

  1. primary@gmail.com (currently active account)
  2. work@gmail.com
  3. archive@gmail.com

Then the configuration values would be:

This ensures emails opened from X1 Search launch using the correct Gmail account session in the browser.

Determining the Correct Account Order

If you are unsure which account index should be used:

  1. Open Gmail in your web browser.
  2. Click the secondary signed-in accounts from the Google account switcher menu.
  3. Google will provide a URL associated with that account session.
  4. The URL typically contains the account index value used by Google (for example /u/1/, /u/2/, etc.).
    1. This can be observed in the address bar:

This index corresponds directly with the value that should be entered into X1 Search.

Examples:

  • /u/1/ = Account value 1
  • /u/2/ = Account value 2
  • /u/3/ = Account value 3

Notes

  • The account order is determined by Google and may change if accounts are signed out and back in.
  • If emails are opening in the wrong Gmail account, verify the current account order in the browser and update the setting accordingly.
  • A value of 0 uses the default browser Gmail behavior without account mapping.
